Personal profile
Dr Feng obtained Joint PhD degree in River Science at the University of Trento, Italy and Freie Universität Berlin in Germany, under the Erasmus Mundus SMART programme. Her master degree was in Environmental Science at Beijing Normal University, China.
She has joint University of Nottingham Ningbo China as an assistant Professor since 2017. She is undertaking research projects supported by the National Science Foundation China as the principle investigator and contributed to other projects as co-investigators. She has also been working with colleagues and scientists from Malaysia, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, and China. Meili was invited to attend the IUCN Regional Capacity Building: Water Governance Project Dissemination Workshop held in Malaysia in 2018 as a China representative. Later on she joint as a member of IUCN World Commissions for Protected Areas (WCPA) and its Specialist Group Freshwater in 2021.
Research Interests
Dr Feng's research interests are focused on freshwater ecosystems under climate changing effects and human activities. Specific elements of research incluingg water pollution and water quality modelling in rivers and lakes; hydropower regulation and green hydropower development towards 'double-carbon' settings; and thus induced urban river system adaptation to climate change events such as floods, high precipitation and heat waves.
