Personal profile

Dr Feng was trained in Environmental Science (MSc) and River Science (PhD). Before joining the  University of Nottingham in 2017, she obtained Joint PhD degree in River Science at the University of Trento in Italy and Freie Universität Berlin in Germany, under the Erasmus Mundus SMART programme funded by the European Union. Her research closely integrates freshwater ecosystem and human perturbations such as hydropower regulation in particular. Her specialities include river hydrological modeling, water pollutant studies, and environmental data analyses with comuting science techniques.

She is undertaking large research projects supported by the National Science Foundation China and National Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province as the principle investigator. She also contributed to other NSFC international projects as co-investigators. She has also working experience with colleagues and scientists from Malaysia, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, and China. Meili was invited to attend the IUCN Regional Capacity Building: Water Governance Project Dissemination Workshop held in Malaysia in 2018 as a China representative. Later on she joint as a member of IUCN World Commissions for Protected Areas (WCPA) and its Specialist Group Freshwater since 2021. Besides, Meili is also member of multiple professional associations including member of Chinese National Committee on large dams, Member of International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Reserach (IAHR), Member of China Society for Environmental Science.

I am always happy to collaborate in the broad field of environmental science and geography. Welcome motivated students to discuss potential rearch projects including internships, MRes, and PhD positions. Please contact meili.feng@nottingham.edu.cn for further information.
