Dr. Haonan Li has a wide range of research interests relating with advanced and intelligent manufacturing and automation, including:
- Machining of aerospace materials;
- High-performance processings of high-valued products;
- On-line process monitoring;
- Innovative toolings and fixtures;
- Analytical/numerical modelling of processes;
- CNC & Manufacture automation;

Personal profile
Haonan Li, born in 1990, is one of the youngest academic staffs in University of Nottingham Ningbo China since appointed in Feb 2018 as Assistant Professor (also Doctoral Supervisor) in School of Aerospace. Due to achievements, Dr. Li was promoted to Associate Professor in March 2020 as a special case. Dr. Li’s titles and awards include:
- Research Affiliate of I. Academy for Production Eng. CIRP (one of the five Chinese RAs)
- Reviewing Committee of I. J. of Mach. Tools & Manuf. (one of the six Chinese committees)
- Leading talents in Zhejiang Province
- Leading talents in Ningbo
- Director of Advanced Manufacturing Centre, Faculty of Science & Engineering
- Director of Ningbo Key Laboratory on Advanced Manufacturing Technologies
- Founder & Legal Person of Ningbo Ausstattung Machine Ltd. (1st UNNC Joint Venture)
- Winner of Hiwin Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award
- Guest Professor in Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory for Cutting Tools
- Guest Professor in Wuhan University of Technology
Until Dec. 2021, Dr. Li published 60+ SCI-indexed articles on top journals in Manufacturing Engineering (90% in JCR Q1 journals), with the total citations of 1300, H index of 21, and 9 ESI highly-cited papers and 5 ESI hot paper. Dr. Li coordinated more than 10 funds from National, Provincial and Municipal levels, and 10+ industrial projects, with the total amount of around 15 million RMB (considering credit split).
