Abstract

The formation of periodic interlayer structure to improve the impact damage resistance of carbon laminates was discussed. A two-phase morphology was obtained by using high-temperature thermoplastics as toughening agents. It was found that a good compression strength after impact (CAI) behavior of the laminates resulted from the cooperative effect of the granular interply structure.
