Dipl.-Ing. (M.S.) 1982 and Dr.-Ing. (Ph.D.) degree 1986 in Material Engineering at University of Paderborn, Germany. Full professor in Polymer Materials and Technology 1988-1998 at Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, and joined Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials (BIAM) 1998-2011, and AVIC Composite Center (ACC) since 2010. Since 2017 LDS Chair professor at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China.

Publication of about 400 papers, 8 monographs and about 60 international and Chinese invention patents. 

Professional membership

Director of the National Engineering Laboratory of Structural Carbon-fiber Composites, Director of Beijing Engineering Laboratory of Green Composites. Fellow of SAMPE (F. SAMPE), Fellow of Aviation Industry of China (AVIC), Academician of APAM (Asia-Pacific Academy of Materials), Chairman of SAMPE Global China, the executive council member of International Conference of Composite Materials (ICCM) and Asia-pacific Conference of Composite Materials (ACCM).

Received SAMPE Fellow Award, ZhouGuangZhao Award, KC Wong Fellowship, Aerospace Laureate Award, Feng Ru Aerospace Science and Technology Award, and China Patent Excellence Award etc. 

Expertise Summary

Technological expertise in advanced toughening technology, multifunctional composites typically electrically conductive composites for structural application like electromagnetically shielding and lightening strike protection of composite aircraft structures, device-integrated composites typically the de-icing device integration, bio-sourced resin and the composites, green honeycomb and sandwich, process modelling, data base, and manufacturing technologies like liquid moulding and RTM, autoclave moulding, plastic welding and adhesive bonding etc.
