Fibrillation of thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer as dispersed phase in thermoplastic matrix

Research output: Journal PublicationArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Based on rheological and morphological examinations, microfibrillation process and fibrillation conditions of dispersed phase of a thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer in thermoplastic matrix were studied using models of Taylor, Cox and Grace. The fibrillation development were characterized by We-number, viscosity ratio and critical burst time. The results show satisfactory agreement between the theoretical calculations and the experimental determinations.
