Abstract

Curcumin is a natural plant-derived bioactive component extracted from the rhizomes of Curcuma Longa. The diversity of beneficial biological effects of curcumin has led to intensified research on its designing and application in various sectors. However, owing to the poor bioavailability and stability, nano delivery systems of curcumin have attained increased area of interest among researchers. A bundle of in vitro and in vivo studies has uncovered the therapeutic benefits of curcumin nano delivery systems as a potential functional ingredient that can find application in food and pharmaceutical industries. The present book chapter aims to analyze various nanostructures for delivering curcumin to improve bioavailability and stability. Simultaneously, it also aims to analyze the therapeutic benefits of curcumin nanoemulsions and their application in food systems.
