Abstract

In this chapter we look at the experiences of expatriate staff at a university in China (hereafter called The University), a joint venture between a Chinese university and a British university. The courses are all taught in English, are generally very similar and in many cases identical to those taught at the UK campus, and are subject to the same quality assurance and other regulatory mechanisms as those in the UK. The academic staff is drawn from a wide range of countries, although those from the UK form the largest national group.
