Zhangfan Cao is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Accounting at the Nottingham University Business School China. Zhangfan received his Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance from the University of Edinburgh and was a visiting scholar at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
His research focuses on market-based accounting research, corporate finance and governance, supply chain finance, Environment, Society and Governance (ESG), and capital market. He has published in ABS-listed 3 and 4-star journals including Journal of Corporate Finance, British Journal of Management, Regional Studies, Financial Management, British Accounting Review, Corporate Governance: An International Review, and Journal of Business Research among others. His research was also recognized with the Best Paper Award at the Journal of International Accounting Research (JIAR) Conference in 2024.
Zhangfan's research interests are mainly in the areas of market-based accounting research, corporate finance, Environment, Society and Governance (ESG), and capital markets. In particular, Zhangfan's research is keen on understanding how non-financial stakeholders and other intangible assets, along with non-financial information, influence and interact with capital markets.
