N2 - This paper describes the studies on methods of compression for medical echocardiography sequence, or called ultrasound sequential images in this paper. The aim is to find a combination of methods, which achieves the highest overall compression performance. Our approach is based on region of interest (ROI), i.e. to segment the image into several regions according to their spatial characteristics, and then compress them separately with different methods. In doing so, we are able to achieve a relatively high compression ratio of about 7.2 white preserving the lossless contents of important regions.
