title = "Design considerations for an outer rotor, field wound, flux switching machine",
abstract = "This paper considers the design and analysis of a field wound, flux switching motor where both the field and the armature windings are placed on the stator. Different machine topoogies and slot-segment combinations are considered in an attempt to obtain high torque density and fault tolerant performances such as those required in the aerospace industry. The highly demanding application in terms of torque density results in an outer rotor approach being selected. Optimisation with respect to machine geometry is addressed analytically and validated through finite element simulations.",
