Abstract
Questions of increasing socioeconomic inequality and social polarization in Chinese cities and the rural-urban dual structure in the transitional area are under debate in contemporary urban studies. The unique socioeconomic outcome of Shanghai underscores the complicated interactions between globalization and local politics.
These efforts have not only spatial dimensions built in, but also clear implications for spatial development. This rapid urbanization has causes sub-health and unchanging state of urban-rural dual structure. As a result, urban and rural, traditional and modern settlement systems co-exist in close proximity due to a regional phenomenon of hybrid spatial condition named desakota by geographer Terry McGee. The desakota metropolitan region of Shanghai–Nanjing–Hanzhou in Yangtze River Delta, is a complex socioeconomic physical entities, which are characterized by high population densities, rapid growth of non-agricultural activities, labor mobility, occupational fluidity, and intensely mixed land uses. The research investigate Shanghai metropolitan hybridisation and lead the way in urban development by highlighting infrastructure of both landscape and ecology, through which landscape can be created and preserved as a medium, and as the connecting link between the land, the people and goods. YRD Desakota metropolitan region could express, the strategy of urbanism without urbanization, shaping metropolitan boundaries with preservation of territorial implicit potential.
