Abstract
The chapter presents the use of recycled aggregate concrete for pavement rapid repair. The design considerations provisioned in pavement codes were first reviewed with a focus on the five core requirements in terms of high early strength, high compatibility with original pavement, low shrinkage, and good durability and workability. Apart from the conventional type III Portland cement for pavement rapid repair, the use of special binders, e.g., calcium sulfoaluminate cement, magnesium phosphate cement, and geopolymer, was also reviewed for the pavement rapid repair. Afterward, an experimental investigation on mix proportion optimization of recycled aggregate rapid repair concrete (RARRC) was presented, followed by a discussion on their mechanical properties. In the end, an in-situ application of recycled aggregate rapid repair concrete with rapid repair agent was described, which demonstrates the feasibility of using recycled aggregate concrete for pavement rapid repair.
