Abstract
This study is directed to identify the factors which would inhibit or enhance the ability of a quality manager to succeed in the management of the quality function. Data collected from about 200 firms in the United States is used to shed light on the issues of interest. Appropriate tests were conducted to ensure the reliability and validity of the scales. Findings of this study are expected to provide researchers and practitioners with a better understanding of the management of quality as well as to help practicing managers better prepared for their career success.
