Abstract
Many critics argue that cyberpunk literature embraces posthumanism and establishes the transhuman subject as the next phase of (guided) human evolution. This paper argues that many cyberpunk science fiction narratives like Neuromancer, The Matrix, and The Diamond Age deconstruct transhumanism even as they use the motifs and trappings of cyberpunk literature.
