Abstract

The countries of the Pacific region are reforming their educational policies to include learners who have frequently been excluded from receiving any form of education. They face many challenges to include learners into their schooling systems. This article systematically identifies and reviews research and policy documents from the region and reports on seven most commonly reported barriers and challenges these countries have faced. It also identifies positive developments from the region that could guide future efforts to address challenges and barriers to inclusive education. The article concludes with four key recommendations for the future development of inclusive education in the region.
