Abstract
Customers want coal to pass through their systems without difficulty. This means producers must sell them a product which is of good handleability. But what does that mean? Until now, identification of the factors which determine handleability of coal has been left to casual observation and not scientific data, which is what prompted Drs Douglas Brown, Brian Atkin and Nick Miles and student Des Creasey*, to carry out a study of the subject. This paper summarises their work.
