Abstract

The life sciences are increasingly dependent on the ability to process vast amounts of data. Suitably-designed databases and computational tools for manipulation of biological data are now essential for research. Although for the unwary there are potential pitfalls, the science of bioinformatics offersenormous advantages for life sciences research.
