Applied Research of Integrating Multi-Technologies to Develop Smart Traffic Digital Twin Model

Building Information Model (BIM)-based digital twin model has been widely adopted in Architecture Engineering and Construction (AEC) industries in recent years, which provides digital platforms for decision-makings of life-cycle operation in building projects to enhance their quality and efficiencies. The quality of digital twin models impacts on decision-makings of AEC projects, therefore, many researches focus on digital twin models' development methods. The quality of digital twin model depends on its information richness in virtual environment, and these information needs to be consistent with real world. Digital twin model consists graphical and non-graphical information, however, current information development methods have limitations to make comprehensive integration. Therefore, this research has made analysis of the advantages and limitations of these existing technologies and methods, which proposed a new method to develop smart traffic digital twin models. The proposed method has been applied and assessed in a real project. The results of this research can provide a new direction for AEC industries to develop digital twin models.
