Abstract

Intelligent systems are a very popular application area in recommender systems these days. Recommendation systems (RS) are a crucial component of any e-commerce platform. They assist users in finding their relevant choice of items from a vast information space by pushing personalised suggestions for various types of products. In recent times, various new types of algorithms have found use in recommender systems. One of them is swarm intelligence (SI), which is an emerging trend in various other areas of application. In initial search engine approaches, a set of related products was shown to a customer as soon as he/she made a purchase. But with the advent of recommendation algorithms, more personalised content could be suggested with the help of cognitive algorithms. Swarm intelligence is a new concept which can be used, especially if we are building complex systems with a multi-agent approach.
