Abstract

The paper presents a comparative study among three methods which allow to estimate induction machines performance through finite element analysis. The first two approaches evaluate the performance by means of a non-linear circuital approach whose parameters are calculated by a specific set of finite element simulations. Those two strategies differ each other on the calculations performed for the circuital parameters determination. The third method is based on set of voltage fed time step simulations carried out for different of operating points. Being the latter the most accurate, it is considered the benchmark for comparison with the other two methods. The approaches are compared highlighting their advantages and drawbacks in terms of accuracy of their predictions.
