Personal profile

Yilong Yang is a Japanese language tutor at the Language Centre and served as a senior tutor of the department from March 2021 to January 2025. Before joining UNNC, he worked with JFL, CFL, and Japanese and Chinese heritage learners in the United States, and with EFL learners in China.

Yang received a BA with honors in Japanese from Vassar College, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa; an MSc with distinction in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition from the University of Oxford; and an EdM in Mind, Brain, and Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He received intensive Japanese language training during his junior year abroad at Waseda University through the Japan Study program based at Earlham College.
