Research Interests
Dr. Weizhuo Shi's research interests lie at the intersection of structural engineering and materials science, particularly focusing on the development and application of innovative, durable materials in building and bridge structures. His work aims to enhance the resilience and sustainability of infrastructures, particularly in the face of extreme events. This involves groundbreaking investigations into non-proprietary Ultra-High Performance Concrete, advanced materials for combating steel corrosion, High-Performance Fiber-Reinforced Concrete, and novel methodologies to improve bridge structure performance. Dr. Shi is also interested in leveraging laboratory tests, field investigations, and numerical simulations to improve safety measures and extend the service life of deteriorating bridge structures. In the future, he plans to continue his research centered on incorporating new materials into constructions, aiming to strike a balance between achieving sustainability goals and increasing structural safety.
