Biography

I have been working for Nottingham University since August 2000, initially at University Park and later at the Malaysia Campus.

The first 11 years of my academic career, 1992-2003, were devoted to an increasing number of research projects in the fuel and combustion area. I especially gained experience in all matters of coal and biomass, but have, and will, happily take on most environmental challenges, from air and water pollution, to waste, to environmental assessment and management.

In 2003 I moved to Malaysia Campus to help start the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering there, taking a new role that prioritised teaching.  This eventually led to substantial management roles such as Director of PG taught courses (2007-11 and 2016-19) and Head of Department (2011-2016). I headed the campus environment committee from its inception in 2010 until 2015, and represented non-professorial academic staff of the Malaysia Campus in Senate (2016-19).

In September 2019 I relocated to UNNC.
