Personal profile

Dr. Kian Ming Lim is an Associate Professor at the School of Computer Science, University of Nottingham Ningbo China. He began his career as a assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Information Science and Technology at Multimedia University in 2005 and later ascended to the position of Associate Professor in 2023. He is an IEEE senior member. He has extensive experience to serve as reviewers in journal and conference and editorship in AI/ML domains. 

His research interests include machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, few-shot learning, generative AI and natural language processing. His scholarly contributions include over 100 peer-reviewed publications in computer science. He has also been dedicated to the mentorship of students. To date, he has successfully supervised 10 postgraduate students to the completion.

Dr. Lim is actively seeking dedicated and motivated Ph.D. candidates and is enthusiastically open to research collaborations. Dr. Lim's research interests span several key areas within the field of computer science and technology with a focus on Artificial Intelligence. These interests are not only theoretical but are also applied in a wide range of research and development projects. Dr. Lim has been actively involved in research grants at various levels, including international, national, industrial, and university projects. His primary research interests include:

Teaching

I have experience teaching the following subjects at the undergraduate level: Machine Learning, Computational Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals, Computer Vision, Data Structures and Algorithms, Natural Language Processing, and Web Programming. I have also taught the subject Deep Learning at Master level.

International: Participated in projects related to federated learning, medical image analysis, drone-based hyperspectral imaging system for precision agriculture, cryptographically secure cloud-based infrastructure, hand gesture recognition.
National: Involved in projects related to few-shot learning, text-to-Image synthesis, gait recognition. 
Industry: Involved in projects related to acoustic event detection, voice authentication system, question-answering system, conversational agents for education.
