Dr Zhou's current research interests cover four domains: First of all, she is interested in investigating the determinants and well-being of entrepreneurship. The typical research questions that I answer is for example how TPB model work in a particular conditional set-up; how labor market condition affect individual decision in entrepreneurial process. Considering well-being, she is particular interested in the dependent well-being between entrepreneurs and their spouses (in a family embeddedness context).
Entrepreneurial finance is another area that I am interested. Her focus is on informal investor, for instance the behavioral characteristics of angel investment, and the relationship between fund manager and the performance of their investee firms.
Her second research stream relates to innovation where I look at the nexus between labor relations, HRM, strategic assets and firm performance (including innovation performance and productivity) in different context (start-up, SMEs, etc.)
Family business is the third research stream in which Dr Zhou is engaged. She is particularly interested in the role of paid family employees, family involvement on the performance of family business. Moreover, family business professionalization is another topic that she likes to investigate in my future research.
Her last research stream lays on the topic of growth and survival. She is interested in the determinants and dimensions of firm growth, the relationship between growth and survival especially within the high-growth firm or gazelles that governments heavily subsidized.
