On Saturday June 7 2025, Professor Douglas Bell delivered a presentation at the annual MATSDA (Materials Development Association) international conference, which was hosted this year by the National Research Institute for Foreign Language Teaching Materials in Beijing.

The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Humanizing Language Learning Materials’ and in a presentation titled ‘Humanizing Materials and Pedagogic Approaches for Teacher Training, Education and Ongoing Professional Development in TESOL’, Professor Bell highlighted the importance of including more humanistic and experiential approaches to teacher education in Masters' programs, showcasing some of his most recent work from the MA TESOL at UNNC.
