Abstract

In view of the limit to the conventional temperature estimation method in the unique high temperature and pressure environment and the urgent request for temperature monitoring of electrical submersible motor (ESM), this paper proposed a sensor-less temperature estimation method for ESM based on rotor slot harmonics. The core of the identification is by the easy obtained stator voltage and current signals to realize the real-time temperature monitoring of ESM worked in the underground 2~3 km deep. According to the rotor temperature analysis expressions, the speed, inductive reactance and rotor resistance can be calculated and the status changes can be monitored. The experimental results show that the maximum error of speed based on rotor slot harmonics is 3r/min and error of temperature is less than 10°C, it shows the validity and feasibility of the whole scheme.
