Study on the welding performance of middle-density polyethylene materials

This paper discussed the welding performance of two MDPE (middle-density polyethylene) gas pipe materials with different flowability. The effect of welding parameters on the tensile strength of welds was investigated, the optimal welding parameters and their varying ranges were determined and the mutual welding performance of the dissimilar polyethylene materials was tested and analyzed. A process criterion to guarantee good weld strength was proposed.
