Abstract

Research on solid-state fermentation (SSF) is of great importance to the utilization of natural cellulose. However, over-heating problem in transitional bioreactor has become the bottleneck of SSF technology and prevents solid-state fermentation from large-scale applications. The development of novel SSF bioreactor with air pressure pulsation has been dealt with. Measurement and control software was developed under virtual instrument concept. The instruments include sensors, signal conditioning boards, data acquisition boards and a computer. Therefore, a LabVIEW program was designed to address the requirements for a full solution, so that the computer could integrate all phases of their application in a measurement and control system. Experimental results showed that the system based on virtual instrument offered good solution for the solid-state fermentation process, with friendly interface together with powerful functions.
