Abstract
Based on the electromagnetic induction theory, the 2D finite element method (FEM) equation for the eddy loss calculation in stator can of canned motor is presented. Combing the terminal voltage convergence, the improved FEM was obtained, and the eddy fields of two canned motors were analyzed. The results were compared with that from traditional formula and test data, and the accuracy of new method could be clarified. Using the same method, the eddy losses of canned motors with different sizes and materials were calculated, therefore the variations of can's eddy loss due to these parameters could be obtained. The losses of different parts of the motor were taken as the heat density of the temperature field, and then the stator temperature field was modeled and calculated by FEM. From the result, the distribution of temperature is determined.
