Abstract

Reverse logistics is an important strategic operational tool in nowadays business era. This is particularly important for short-life cycle industries like mobile phone industry. In this paper, a conceptual model for reveres logistics which focuses on mobile phone industry is developed. The model incorporates both internal and external factors that affect material flows and the reverse logistics activities. The usefulness of the model is demonstrated through a case study, which indicates how a company could create values from the returns by adopting this model. The model not only provides managers a template for analyzing their own reverse logistics challenges, but also serves as a reference model for similar industries.
