Abstract

It is a very complex electromechanical process for solid rotor permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) pulling into synchronization, which is difficult to be analyzed and calculated exactly. In this paper, a solid rotor PMSM with simply structure was taken as the analysis model and the numerical calculation model under assumptions as well as the solving regions of the derived model was presented. Then the 2D transient electromagnetic fields of this motor were calculated by an improved finite element method. Thus the starting performance and operation performance were analyzed. By analyzing the harmonics of magnetic field in air gap and the eddy current distribution on rotor outer surfer, the influence of the copper rotor bar on motor performances was studied. The calculated results show good agreement with the experimental data. Some reasonable conclusions were obtained, which can provide some help for the design of this kind of PMSM.
