Abstract
This study is intended to develop a simple method to measure the quality of recovered carbon fibres. A key part of this is the determination of fibre length from a suspension containing discontinuous fibres. A bespoke vane-in-cup dispersion rig has been constructed and used to measure viscosity of the fibre suspension. An empirical model was used to estimate fibre length from the measured viscosity data. Several suspensions were prepared in order to validate model accuracy.
