Location-aware smart lighting system for individual visual comfort in buildings

Abstract

Smart Lighting Systems are designed to conserve energy without compromising the user's visual comfort. The system incorporates Smart Android Application (App) and communication technologies to adjust light intensities as per the user comfort and behavior, employing the smart sensors. This paper presents implementation of a Smart App for smart lighting system based on the location of the individual user. The Android application can be used to tweak the lighting intensities based on the position of the user, thus providing better visual comfort. The Android Application can be operated in manual, automatic and hybrid modes. This paper also presents the back-end control and message flow of the Smart App.
