Abstract

The samples of corn straw were hydrolysis with dilute hydrochloric acid at different temperatures. The xylose mass concentrations and decomposition product furfural mass concentration at different temperature and cooking time were analyzed. The Saemen kinetic model was developed to describe the course of products of acid hydrolysis. The course of xylose and furfural were satisfactorily described by the model. The activation energy of releasing xylose was 116 kJ/mol. The optimal condition of hydrolyzing the corn straw using 2% dilute hydrochloric acid was maintaining at 120°C for 60 min. The mass concentration of xylose and furfural in the liquid phase could reach 20.99 and 1.46 g/L respectively.
