Abstract

In today’s challenging academic job market, where the university trains many more young academics than there are permanent academic positions, the question of moving abroad becomes increasingly important for young scholars. In addition to the maybe more traditional migration route, where scholars from global South countries go the global North, there is now also the move in a different direction: from the global North to the global South. This chapter introduces the book and its aim to investigate ‘moves abroad’ and help young scholars make such a decision.
