Influence of stator structure on electromagnetic performance of high speed PM generator

To investigate the influence of stator structure on the electromagnetic performance of high-speed permanent magnetic generator(HSPMG), according to the structure of a 100 kW level HSPMG, the mathematical model and physical model for its two-dimensional electromagnetic analysis were established, and the flux distribution of generator working in steady state was calculated, and machine operating parameters such as output power, terminal voltage, eddy loss, and iron loss were determined and compared with the test data. Then, the influences of stator back around windings on induced electromotive force (EMF), and the effects of additional leakage flux on stator yoke magnetic density were analyzed, through the comparisons of electromagnetic fields and performance in HSPMG with the back around windings and the traditional stator windings structure. The variations of main magnetic circuit caused by slotted stator and its effects on machine electromagnetic performances were studied. The tendencies of leakage flux in main magnetic circuit in generators with slotted and toothless stator core were comparatively researched, as well as the distributions of different kinds of losses. The results show that the back around windings increase machine EMF and lower the load magnetic density in stator yoke, whereas the toothless stator core makes rotor eddy loss lower and copper loss higher.
