Abstract

As the film festival curator/director, my primary task was to acquire films for the festival. The aim was to select films that represents various film industries of India, shorts, features, experimental and animation. Most importantly, the focus was to also provide a platform for locally made Indian-Australian films, which made the curatorial work quite intensive. Over the four days, ‘Indian Stories – Australian Screens’ presented an array of prominent keynote speakers from both academic and filmmaking backgrounds, providing a platform for dynamic discussions. In total 28 films were screened during the festival, including features, shorts, experimental and documentaries, which were well received by audiences. Filmmakers presented their work and engaged in QA’s for audience feedback and comments.
