abstract = "This chapter discusses China{\textquoteright}s educational system. As the Chinese economy has grown, China{\textquoteright}s educational system has also expanded rapidly, and the Chinese people currently enjoy unprecedented access to education. The chapter describes the formal school system, which provides a free, mandatory nine-year education. It then goes on to the higher education system, where bachelor{\textquoteright}s, Master{\textquoteright}s, and doctoral degrees are available. This system has been expanded with changes to the fees system and restructured to accommodate increasing numbers of students and the demands of the labour market. Although higher education has expanded substantially, it seems employers do not always have confidence in the training an individual has received, leaving some challenges to be resolved.",
