    Abstract

This paper explores the critical role of citizen journalism and new communication technologies during the Syrian Revolution, focusing specifically on the case of the Aleppo Media Center (AMC). It examines how advancements in digital platforms, particularly social media, have transformed the production and dissemination of news in conflict zones. By analyzing the activities of the AMC from its inception in 2011, this study highlights the use of new technologies in circumventing traditional media censorship, enabling activists to document and broadcast real-time events. The rise of digital activism is contextualized within the broader socio-political landscape of the Arab Spring and its impact on the global media ecosystem. Using a multidisciplinary approach, the paper offers insights into the intersection of technology, grassroots journalism, and political resistance, contributing to the ongoing discourse on media democratization and the role of citizen reporters in authoritarian regimes.
