Abstract

This chapter builds on the previous chapters by exploring celebrity capital and bromance capital, but in the context of comradery capital. It goes beyond bromances to be more inclusive of gender diversity and various group dynamics. This is explored further through case studies on female friendships such as Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, then moves to group dynamics by comparing the three cast of the Oceans films from each generation. The chapter then shifts towards exploring cross-gender case studies, examining the close comradery between Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, and Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. The chapter finishes with a discussion on cross-gender groups such as the cast of The Avengers. Overall, this chapter reiterates the importance of bromance capital but emphasises a need for a shift in language to be inclusive of gender, thus building on our previously published term “buddy banter” and introducing comradery capital.
