Abstract
These special online video stories along with a short report were made for SBS Hindi, Australia that explores the contribution of Australian-Indians in various walks of life in Australia, from business, arts, culture and philanthropy “At almost 700,000 strong, Australia's Indian diaspora, comprising both Australians of Indian origin and Indians resident in Australia, makes a significant contribution to Australia's society and economy” (www.dfat.gov.au). Thus, this work provides an interesting insight in the field of the study of the Indian diaspora, by exploring their influence, engagement, participation, connectedness and embedment in the Australian society. The series distributed online on Facebook, YouTube and SBS website, actively examines how Australian-Indians successfully set themselves up in a new country, actively share their cultural mores, assimilate and adapt to the new country in a positive and committed manner. The focus of the series is on the aspirations, interests and achievements of Australian-Indians, but it does raise questions around cultural hybridity, adaptability and persistence that the Australian-Indians demonstrate and paves way for further interrogation.
