Abstract

This paper examines the use of a dual bridge inverter topology for an induction machine drive application. The paper considers the possibility of using a dual bridge inverter with one bridge floating to generate multilevel output voltage waveforms. The charging and discharging of the floating capacitor will be controlled using redundant switching states. The use of this topology can improve system efficiency and converter volume. The paper includes analysis and modulation of the converter topology as well as simulation and practical results showing the converter operation.
