During this period, he received a research grant of 100,000 Euros and published 10 papers in internationally recognized journals. He participated in the EU Horizon 2020 COST Action “SmartCATS” to promote the exchange of scientific knowledge on smart energy carriers. He joined the Technical University of Darmstadt as a researcher for the cluster projects “Oxyflame” and "Clean Circles". During this period, he published 25 papers, including a book chapter, and established a strong network of international collaborations in more than 10 countries.  He is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham, China Beacons Institute.

His research interests involve thermochemical conversion processes, investigating new concepts and resources, and optimizing existing processes. Focusing on sustainability, the research is closely related to renewable energy, green chemistry, and waste management. He works closely with worldwide experts and is particularly adept at collaborative projects and communicating science.

He is actively involved in the developments of the CRECK modeling group at Politecnico di Milano for kinetic mechanisms and OpenSMOKE++ platform, which provides a core set of open-source models, methods and tools for the simulation of reactive systems. He is an active reviewer for Elsevier, contributing to the scientific community.
