Dr. Lei Hao obtained his PhD in Media and Communications at Goldsmiths, University of London, UK. His research looks at the dynamic relationship between technology and subjectivity, especially the role of technicity in the process of subject formation, focusing on the debates around the politics of retention on subject formation. Methodologically, he develops a post-phenomenological approach from Cultural Studies to understanding the changing role of media technologies in society, culture and the economy. This being so, his research interests fall into three main strands: ethnicity in increasingly mediated contemporary cultures; communication and power in blockchain; digital media and creative labour.

Based on his academic research, Dr Hao has worked closely with the industry to make direct knowledge exchange. With over six years of entrepreneurial experience in China and the UK, Dr Hao's professional background includes the Head of Chinese Operations in IOHK, an engineering company that builds blockchain technology. He is the founder of Access Digital Ltd, a consultancy company that provides insights into areas of marketing and technology. He has also founded Yuanju Technology Ltd, a software engineering company that builds applications for computational media.
