Dr Fangfang Zhu obtained her BEng degree in Environmental Engineering from Hohai University in China in 2007 and PhD in Civil Engineering from University of Nottingham UK in 2012. She first joined UNNC in October 2012 as a teaching fellow in Applied Mathematics, and she was then appointed as an assistant professor in Civil Engineering of UNNC in August 2013. In August 2020, she was promoted to Associate Professor in Coastal Engineering at UNNC.
Dr Zhu has conducted extensive theoretical and numerical research work in the field of beach morphodynamics. She has a broad range of research interests including coastal dynamics, coastal hazards modelling, coastal ecosystem and surface water modelling. Dr Zhu aims to produce world-leading research to improve theoretical understanding of coastal dynamics and solve global issues, e.g., coastal erosion.
Dr Zhu has been awarded research grants from National Natural Science Foundation of China and Ningbo Science and Technology Bureau. She has published more than 15 SCI papers, two of which are published in Journal of Fluid Mechanics. She also serves as a reviewer for many international journals including Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Coastal Engineering, Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering, Coastal Management, and Journal of Coastal Research.
