Urban Air Pollution and Control

Research output: Chapter in Book/Conference proceedingBook Chapterpeer-review

Abstract

Particulate matters (PM), sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are commonly considered as the major types of pollutants in urban air pollution and pose severe threats to atmospheric environment and human being’s health. The selection of suitable control methods for these pollutants depends mainly on their natures and emission sources. This article introduces both prevention and end-of-pipe treatment technologies for the abovementioned pollutants emitted from both stationary and mobile sources in urban areas with the analysis of their pros and cons.
