Abstract
A thermosetting polyimide model matrix resin and laminated systems made of the polyimide were investigated. The thermosetting polyimide LP-15 and thermoplastic toughening agent PEK-C were compatible to form polymeric blend for a wide range of composition ratios. The impact toughness of the blends increases with PEK-C loading. The results show that the impact resistance of the graphite laminates can be enhanced by incorporating a thermoplastic component into the resin to form a toughening concept.
