Abstract

Halbach consequent pole (HCP) PM array has been applied in many PM machines recently for its unique features. For example, Halbach consequent pole can be directly embedded into the slot opening, it increases the back EMF and other performance of the stator-PM machines. However, due to the specific structure, tangential magnets in Halbach consequent pole has higher risk of demagnetization than regular magnet forms. To solve this problem, several demagnetizing protection methods are proposed and there effects are studied and discussed in this paper. As a result, a demagnetization optimized magnetic-geared machine with Halbach consequent pole in the slot opening is proposed and compared with the original design.
